There are over 40.3 million victims of human trafficking globally. 81% are trapped in forced labor, 25% are children, and 75% are women and girls.⠀
⠀
1 out of 3 of the teen moms rescued in Kenya were involved in some sort of trafficking. Girls like Edith and Irene were tricked into trafficking by corrupt employers. Forced labor is the biggest sector of trafficking in the world (Human Rights Commission). ⠀
⠀
Women will do anything to feed their children and they comprise 75% of indentured workers. When you rescue a woman out of trafficking, you also take away her job.⠀
How MHG is fighting trafficking:
We are boots on the ground in Kenya, rescuing pregnant girls out of trafficking situations and training, equipping, educating these girls with better options.
We are creating dignified jobs in Kenya to break the cycle of poverty that caused many families to allow their daughters into these situations.
We are educating shoppers locally and across the USA, and providing an entry level way to engage in this fight by offering trendy, ethically-made product to purchase in our online and retail stores and through our subscription club MHG Clubs.
We are providing hands-on opportunities to serve. When you volunteer or shop locally at MHG, you’re taking action! Not only are you freeing up resources by serving, you are also becoming a part of the global story. You are linking hands with the artisan and future buyer.
How you can join the fight:
Join us on our mission to empower vulnerable women in Jesus' name by volunteering or shopping with us. Together, we can make an impact in the lives of women and their families across the globe!
