ABOUT THE ARTISAN

Local Hope is a Mercy House Global artisan program based in Houston, Texas, that provides dignified employment and skills training for women who have overcome human trafficking. Through meaningful work creating handcrafted candles and bath products, these women gain valuable experience, earn income, and build confidence as they work toward greater independence and stability.

Beyond artisan employment, Mercy House Global also supports vulnerable women in the Houston community through programs such as English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes for refugees and Women’s Empowerment Luncheons for both refugees and survivors of human trafficking. These initiatives create opportunities for connection, encouragement, education, and personal growth, helping women build brighter, more hopeful futures.
